Tuesday forecast

Josh Marthers

A south wind will allow for another very warm day across the South Carolina Lowcountry.  Partly cloudy to perhaps mostly sunny skies are expected today with high temperatures soaring into the middle and upper 70s.  The record high for the day is 78, set back in 1955, and I think we have a good shot at breaking that one.

Warm and muggy air will continue to stream northward tonight and early Wednesday ahead of a potent storm system that will drag a cold front across the region by Wednesday afternoon.  Showers and even a few thunderstorms will become likely shortly after daybreak on Wednesday with most of the rain ending during the afternoon.  I think some of us will even end the day with some rays of cool sunshine.  Overnight lows tonight will be near 60, with high temperatures in the middle 60s on Wednesday being met by early afternoon.  Temperatures will begin to fall behind the front and we will likely be in the 50s by sunset Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday will be significantly cooler with most of us remaining in the middle to upper 50s for afternoon highs.  Overnight lows will be near freezing on Friday morning.  Another brief warm up is expected on Saturday ahead of our next cold front with high temperatures expected to reach the lower to middle 60s.  Colder air will once again arrive on Sunday and Monday with high temperatures in the middle 50s.
